Costumes are big in our house - definitely necessary for running errands out and about...

And then here is Reesey later in the day. She definitely adheres to the idea of "Less is more"...the "Less" being that she has no pants...the "More" being that she has on two different kinds of shoes and carries two purses and a sword...
We went to Seattle to visit our friends the Hipshers, and also to celebrate Brian's 37th birthday. We took the kids to the Seattle Aquarium...here are some pix:
It was a fun trip - nice to the see our friends and spend some time together!

Owen had his first day of Kindergarten this week. He was very excited to go, and even got to ride the bus! Mommy and Daddy were a little nervous, but there was absolutely no anxiety whatsoever on his part. Here are some fun pix from us getting ready to catch the bus.
And then of course we have some silliness from a day of playing with costumes. Owen put on his Mr. Incredible costume from 2 years ago - needless to say I think he's kind of outgrown it! Reesey was in a princess dress and ran around saying "pretty! pretty!".

Summer was fun! Looking forward to a beautiful and exciting fall!

We had a block party again for the 4th of July in our neighborhood. We have awesome neighbors and Debbie, John and Orion came too. The kids wore tie-dyed t-shirts that we made the day before...except for Reese because hers turned out to be more pink, white and blue, instead of red, white and blue...plus I had a cute little dress for her which she will never have a chance to wear again! Here are some pix of the celebration:
It was a long day because I had gotten up early (5am!) to run a 1/2 marathon in the morning, but it was a very fun and relaxing evening!
In culinary news, I have been embracing my inner domestic goddess and doing some BAKING. Yes, it's a stretch for me, but the cherries at my parent's house are ripe and just begging to be made into some desert goodness. So, here are the fruits of my labor....sour cherry pie and bing cherry crisp. They were so yummy with vanilla ice cream on the side....I had to give most of it away or I would have eaten the whole thing myself....
And finally - we went camping on Father's day at Indian Henry Campground on the Clackamas river with a bunch of friends for a night, and then the kids and I went camping with our neighbors at Camp Dakota for a few nights at the end of June. Both trips were very fun.
Orion went to rock band camp this summer, and they held a show at Berbati's to showcase what they had been working on all week. All the perfomances were great, but I was so amazed at how talented Orion is! He sounded great and had amazing stage presence. He had teachers, other parents and friends coming up to him afterwards to congratulate him on what a great performance he gave. I wouldn't have been surprised if he started signing autographs. And while we are all a little biased, we all agreed he was the best one up there. Here are pix of the rock star in the family:

Owen graduated from pre-school this week and the school had a little celebration to honor the occasion. Owen is very excited to be going to kindergarten next year - but will miss going to school with all his friends here, especially Xander. Here are some pix of the guys on their big day...
It was a cute little ceremony, and we're very proud of our guy. Can't believe he's going to kindergarten next year!
This year Reese's birthday fell on Mother's day so we went out to Gee and Papa's to have brunch and celebrate. The weather cooperated and we were able to sit outside and have some super yummy food and watch Reese open her loot. Pix, pix, pix:
Later that day we took Reese and Owen to see Sesame Street Live at the Memorial Collesium. Reese is a pretty big Elmo fan, so this was a huge treat. And then dinner at Chez Jose...it was a great day. Reese also had some gifts at home, which Owen was more than willing to help her with - and they even cooperated and posed for a picture together without one of them blinking, getting mad or losing interest:
And, in news completely unrelated to Reese's birthday or Mother's day - we had our first harvest of lettuce for salads the other day...SOOO yummy!
We also planted tomatos, some pole beans and zuchini as well as all the herbs. Our soil is very bad so we have to do everything in pots - but we're hoping for some good stuff coming up soon!
